Sea Launch explosion

The Sea Launch Zenit-3SL exploded at liftoff yesterday. The Sea Launch web site reports:
“A Sea Launch Zenit-3SL vehicle, carrying the NSS-8 satellite, experienced an anomaly today during launch operations.

Sea Launch will establish a Failure Review Oversight Board to determine the root cause of this anomaly. Please call the Sea Launch Hot Line for further information, as it becomes available. We will also post updates on the Sea Launch website at www.sea-launch.com.”

A video of the launch can be viewed here.

  1. I was searching for blogs on explosions. Didn’t really intend to arrive here. Then I got reading. Guess you deal in controlled explosions, bit sometime lose the control! Interesting weblog site, and unique. Great!
