Today begins the 2008 competition for the Nothrop Grumman Lunar Lander Challenge. Nine teams were originally scheduled to compete but it looks like the competition will be between only two. The two competitors are the returning favorite Armadillo Aerospace and the new underdog first time team TrueZer0. Will Armadillo successfully complete the challenge on it’s third try?

UPDATE – Armadillo ran out of time on the first flight window but was able to get in one good flight. They get at least 3 more flight windows.
TrueZer0 craft was destroyed in a spectacular crash on their first attempt.
UPDATE 2 - Armadillo Aerospace team haveĀ won the Northrop Grumman Level 1 contest. Tomorrow they will attempt the much more difficult Level 2
